Harriet Potter

I've been imagining what Harry Potter would be like if all the genders were switched. Everything else stays the same, only the genders change. I made up names for all of the main characters:

Narcissa
Narcissus

The point is that the story doesn't change (except possibly a few tiny things). The thing that changes is people's perception of the characters and their relationships. I'm going to talk about a few characters and how I think peoples' perceptions of them would change if their genders were switched. (NOTE: This is totally my opinion and is probably completely inaccurate.)

Harry:
Honestly, I don't think people's perceptions of Harry would change that much is his gender was switched. People might complain that she wasn't a "strong female character". people always seem to do that when a female character isn't stereotypically boyish.

Ron:
Ron gets a lot of hate as a boy, but if he was a girl I bet everyone would love her. No one would say that she didn't deserve to be with Hermione.

Hermione:
Everyone loves Hermione as a girl. As a boy, people probably wouldn't love him as much, but they would still like him. He might be one of those boys that no one pays much attention to, but nobody hates.

Neville:
Perceptions of Neville probably wouldn't change much if his gender was switched. Perhaps people would pay a little more attention to her in book 7 and a little less attention to her in all the other books.

Ginny:
Ginny gets a lot of hate which she doesn't deserve. As a boy, I think people would love him. he would be Harry's cool athletic boyfriend and fangirls would go crazy over him.

Luna:
I really have no idea what people would think of Luna as a boy. They would probably not like him as much.

Draco:
Everyone would hate female Draco. I am almost 100% sure of this. Most of the people who like Draco like him because he is attractive (I'm not saying this applies to all people who like Draco). As a girl, everyone would hate her.

Albus:
Albus would be seen very differently as a female, but I think people would still like her the same amount.

Voldemort:
I have a really, really hard time imagining Voldemort as a woman and I don't so much with most of the other characters. Perhaps, if Voldemort was female, she would be one of those villains that everyone likes. or, she might be another Umbridge. I really don't know.

Bellatrix::
Everyone would really, really hate Bellatrix as a male.  Lots of the people who like Bellatrix like her because she's female. Just saying.

Dolores:
I don't think people who hate Umbridge quite as much as a man, but people would probably still hate him quite a bit.

Severus:
Almost everyone would hate female Snape. People might see her like Umbridge. This one's really hard to imagine, though.

Fred and George:
People would love female Fred and George, I think.

Lavender:
People would hate male Lavender so much.

Cho:
No one really likes Cho that much as a girl and I honestly think that people would like her even less as a boy. It's kind of similar to Lavender.

James:
I think people would really like James as a woman. More than they do as a man, at least.

Lily:
I think that, on the whole, people's opinions of Lily wouldn't really change if she was male.
