Three Favourite Love Triangles

It seems to be common law that love triangles must always be hated. Here's the thing: I don't get why people hate them so much. Sure, there are some that are really annoying, but it bothers me that so many people think that it's somehow improbable or annoying for someone to love two people at the same time. So, here are my five favourite love triangles from TV shows and books. Warning: This post contains spoilers.

1. Korra, Mako and Asami from Legend of Korra (SPOILERS FOR LEGEND OF KORRA)

This love triangle is an actual triangle, instead of a V-shape, like most love triangles. In the first two seasons, Mako liked both Korra and Asami and both Korra and Asami liked him. At this point, it seemed like any normal love triangle. Asami and Mako were dating. Korra was jealous. Korra kissed Mako. Asami and Mako broke up and Mako and Korra started dating. Asami was jealous. Eventually, though, Mako and Korra broke up too. Then, in the fourth season of the show, Korra and Asami got together!!!! (Sorry, it's just my favourite thing ever.)

Why I like this love triangle: It's an actual triangle instead of a V, and two girls who were originally jealous of each other end up getting together.

Who I Ship: Korra and Asami

2. Tessa, Will and Jem from the Infernal Devices (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE INFERNAL DEVICES)

This is another love triangle that is (arguably) an actual triangle instead of a V-shape. Tessa loves both Will and Jem, and both of them love her. You could also argue that Will and Jem love each other too, but their relationship is canonically platonic. Anyway, Will and Tessa end up getting married. Jem is out of the picture for a while because of complicated stuff. Tessa is immortal, so Will eventually dies leaving her behind. Then, a while later, Tessa gets married to Jem (he was immortal too, for a while).

Why I like this love triangle: Tessa loves both Will and Jem equally, and she, Will and Jem all accept that.

Who I Ship: Both Tessa/Will and Tessa/Jem

3. Raven, Clarke and Finn from the 100 (SPOILERS FOR THE 100)

You might be thinking "Why does she like this love triangle?" Raven and Finn were dating, Finn cheats on Raven with Clarke. Clarke doesn't know that Raven exists, when she finds out, she's upset. When Raven finds out, she is also upset and she breaks up with Finn.

Why I like this love triangle: Despite Finn being a jerk, Raven and Clarke become really good friends.

Who I Ship: Clarke/Raven (Is this cheating?)

Ten Favourite Fictional Friendships

Everyone talks about romantic relationships in fiction, but in my opinion, platonic relationships are just as important. Here are ten of my favourite fictional friendships in no particular order. Some of these friendships consist of more than two people. In the group friendships on this list there may be people within the group who like each other romantically.

1. Clarke and Raven from The 100

"I'd pick you first."  "Of course you would. I'm awesome."
Clarke Griffin and Raven Reyes are from the TV show The 100. In the beginning, Clarke and Raven's relationship was a bit of a rivalry since Finn, Raven's boy friend, was interested in Clarke, but the two girls soon got over their differences. Now, Raven is one of the only people Clarke can trust, and Clarke is one of the only people Raven can count on.

2. Clara and The Doctor from Doctor Who

"Run. Run you clever boy, and remember me."
In Doctor Who, Clara Oswald is the Doctor's newest companion, but she doesn't think of herself as the Doctor's assistant, she thinks of herself as his equal. Clara and the Doctor go on adventures together, and while their relationship has been rough at times, the two always stick together.

3. Blue, Gansey, Ronan and Adam from The Raven Cycle

"But what she didn't realize about Blue and her boys was that they were all in love with one another. She was no less obsessed with them than they were with her, or one another, analyzing every conversation and gesture, drawing out every joke into a longer and longer running gag, spending each moment either with one another or thinking about when next they would be with one another. Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn't all-encompassing, that wasn't blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she'd had this kind, she didn't want the other.”
Blue Sargent, Richard Gansey, Ronan Lynch and Adam Parrish from The Raven Cycle book series have one of the strangest and most interesting friendships I have ever read about. The four each have a very unique relationship with each other person in the group. They often argue, but at the end of the day, they are the only people in the world who really understand each other.

4. Korra, Mako, Bolin and Asami from Legend of Korra

"The new team avatar."
In the TV show Legend of Korra, Korra and her friends Mako, Bolin and Asami work together to save the world on countless occasions. These four would do anything for each other. The group is sometimes pulled apart by political conflicts or love triangles, but they always find their way back to each other.

5. Joan and Sherlock from Elementary

"I consider you to be exceptional, so I make an exceptional effort to accommodate you."
The thing that I love about the TV show Elementary is the relationship between the two main characters, Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson. Joan starts out as Sherlock's sober companion, but she later joins him in detective work. At first the two don't get along, but they soon find that they have more in common than they thought, and that the differences that they do have are what make their friendship strong.

6. Clarke and Anya from The 100

"There is no 'we'."
Clarke Griffin and Anya from the TV show The 100 start their relationship as enemies. Over the course of their interactions, they eventually become allies and they form a bond of mutual respect.

7. Harry, Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter

"Why is it, when something happens, it is always you three?"
Obviously the golden trio has to be somewhere on this list. Harry, Ron and Hermione are really the ultimate friends. I don't think I need to go on about them. You all now how epic they are.

8. Tessa, Will and Jem from The Infernal Devices

“They say you cannot love two people equally at once,” she said. “And perhaps for others that is so. But you and Will—you are not like two ordinary people, two people who might have been jealous of each other, or who would have imagined my love for one of them diminished by my love of the other. You merged your souls when you were both children. I could not have loved Will so much if I had not loved you as well. And I could not love you as I do if I had not loved Will as I did.”
Yes. I know this is a love triangle. But if that's all you saw in their relationship, I think you are very wrong. The point of their relationship is that they are all equally in love with each other. They all care so much for one another and they would do anything to protect each other.

9. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko and Suki from The Last Airbender

"Team Avatar is back. Air. Water. Earth. Fire. Fan and sword!"
Team Avatar from Avatar:The Last Airbender is probably my favourite group of friends ever. It's true that they argue a lot, and one of their members was originally their enemy, but they really are the best of friends. They worked together to save the world and make it better, and then they worked together to keep it that way.

10. Donna and the Doctor from Doctor Who

"I was going to be with you forever."
Donna Noble is the only main companion in new Doctor Who who is never remotely interested in The Doctor romantically. Instead, the two are the very best of friends, and the travel through space and time together.

    The Blood of Olympus Review

SPOILERS FOR BLOOD OF OLYMPUS. Duh.
    -
    -
    -
    -
    -
    -
    -
    -
I finally got the Blood of Olympus from the library. I really enjoyed reading it, but I was honestly a little bit disappointed with the ending. It would have been better, in my opinion, if the book had been in Leo's perspective when he died. There was just all this build-up for the final battle and then we didn't really get to see it. But, anyway, there were some things I really liked about the book. For one thing, it kind of made me ship Annabeth/Piper, which is amazing because I never ship things that aren't canon. I also really enjoyed reading Nico and Reyna's POVs. Reyna has become one of my favourite characters in the series. I really like that she did not end up with a guy at the end of a series. I was worried that would happen.

So, anyway, I'm going to look at the predictions I made before the book came out and see how true they are.

TO STORM OR FIRE THE WORLD MUST FALL.

My prediction: This is my favourite line in the prophecy. The two leading theories about it are that "storm" and "fire" refer to specific demigods or to the Greek and Roman camps. I don't think that this line refers to people. I can't really explain why I think that, I just do. If it were to refer to people, though, I like the idea of Frank being fire instead of Leo.
I like the camps theory better. I think it is probably true. The reason I say this is because it fits directly with what that random God told Jason (I can't remember his name and I'm too lazy to look it up).
Other possible theories: Storm and Fire refer to Gods?
The other part of this line is "the world must fall". What does "the world" mean? I think it means Gaea. That makes most sense. Whatever storm and fire are, one of them will probably be the thing that defeats Gaea in the end. The fact that the prophecy feels the need to mention both storm and fire makes me think that both will try to defeat Gaea and only one will succeed. If storm and fire means Roman and Greek, then perhaps this means that one of the camps will defeat Gaea. Which doesn't really makes sense, but whatever.
Could "fall" have a different meaning than we think? I doubt it. The prophecy says the world must fall. If that means Gaea, that's good news. If not... what could it possibly mean? The prophecies have always come true in the past, but is it possible that the seven demigods might be able to change fate?

Reality: I was totally wrong about what this line refereed to. I thought it didn't refer to people, but it turns out that storm is Jason and fire is Leo. I'm honestly a bit disappointed by that. I was right about "the world" being Gaea. I was also kind of right about both storm and fire trying to defeat Gaea with only one of them succeeding.

AN OATH TO KEEP WITH A FINAL BREATH.

My Prediction: Most important question: Whose oath? Probably Leo's. That's the most obvious one. I can't really see it being anything else. I like the theory that Leo will have to choose between saving Calypso and staying alive. I have only read House of Hades once, so I don't feel like I can make any guesses as to who else this line might refer to. It is possible, of course, that the oath in question has not been made yet.
Question: Does this line mean that the person mentioned will have to die in order to fulfill their oath or does it mean that the person will die because they did not fulfill their oath? It sound more like the first choice.
What does "final breath" mean? Does it mean death? I can't think of anything else it could mean. Maybe, instead of the oath-maker dying to fulfill their oath they must kill to fulfill their oath?

Reality: The oath was indeed Leo's, but I think we all saw that. He died and then came back to life. Basically the obvious explanation for this line. Again. The first great prophecy was so much better.

    WHO WILL DIE?

My Prediction: I don't think any of the seven will die. The reason? No one dies in Percy Jackson. Sure, there were a few deaths in The Titan's Curse and The Last Olympian, but none of the very main characters died. This is a children's series.
That said, I do think that there is a possibility one of the seven will die. It is possible for this to happen in a children's book. Who is the most likely candidate? If I were writing the book, I would kill Leo. But I don't think Rick is going to do that. Leo is the fandom's favourite and besides, he deserves a happy ending. Okay, they all do. But if Rick had to kill one of the seven I think he would kill Frank or Hazel. They're not Percy and Annabeth. They haven't been in the series as long. And I can see one of their deaths meaning something. I personally hope Hazel doesn't die. If I had to choose between them I would kill Frank.
So, what about other characters? I don't think Nico will die. I don't think Nico should die. If he dies, I will be pretty mad, and not because he's one of my favourite characters. He isn't. I've never liked him much. But I think he is too important of a character. It's kind of difficult to explain. It would just be... wrong if he died.
I think Reyna is more likely to die than Nico, but I really hope she doesn't. I want her to continue to lead Camp Jupiter.
I don't think Coach Hedge will die, but you never know.
None of the main characters from the first series will die (like Grover, Tyson and Rachel). No one can kill of main characters if they aren't main characters anymore.
I don't think Octavian will die, unfortunately. But you never know. We might get lucky.

Reality: I was right. No one died (permanently)  which I am again unhappy about. The book really would have been better if a major character died. I was wrong about Octavian. He did die. This kind of annoys me also. The big death of the last book and it's my least favourite character. That isn't a very emotional ending.

    CLUE PREDICTIONS:

My Prediction for Clue #1: A goddess says "One of you will die. One of you must die." That means one of them will die, right? Yes. I think so. Gods have always been right with their prophecies in this series. So, does this mean one of the seven will die? It certainly sounds like it. Of course their could be several ways around this. As in Hazel's case, dead people can come back. It's possible that one of the seven will die and become a god, or something like that. Or maybe Nike isn't talking specifically about the seven demigods. One of you must die. One of who? It probably refers to the seven, though. That makes most sense.
"You're magic will help you cheat in this contest but you can't cheat destiny." What contest? Does this just refer to the war with Gaea and the giants or is there some actual contest that Hazel is cheating in?

Reality: This did not, in fact refer to all seven demigods, it referred to the four that were present in this scene (Leo, Frank, Hazel and Percy). Leo did, in fact, die, but he came back to life. So I was kind of right. I was also right to ask whether there was an actual contest Hazel cheated in. There was.

My Prediction for Clue #2: No, Jason. Not again. Is this a dream? I mean, if it isn't, that means Jason dies, right? I find interesting that Juno makes an appearance. Is she going to help them kill the giants? I don't really have any good theories about this clue.

    Reality: It was a dream.

My Prediction for Clue #3: What is Leo trying to do? Maybe it has something to do with Calypso.

Reality: I think this line was referring to Leo turning the ship into a dragon. It did have something to do with Calypso. Kind of.

My Prediction for Clue #4: Another Percy vs. Polybotes battle? Awesome. This clue doesn't really tell me anything interesting.

    Reality: Um.

My Prediction for Clue #5: "You must bridge the gap between Roman and Greek, my child. Neither storm nor fire can succeed without you." This really does make it sound like "storm" and "fire" mean the Greek and Roman camps.
It sounds like Piper will play a major role in the last book. Aphrodite told her what she had to stop Gaea. That means that Piper will be the one to stop Gaea, unless, of course, she fails. But I don't think she will. It sounds like Piper will have to make some sort of sacrifice to defeat Gaea. Jason's life, maybe? Piper's own life? I'm very excited about this clue. Maybe after Blood of Olympus the fandom will stop saying Piper is useless.

Reality: Aphrodite just meant that Piper would talk Gaea back asleep. Technically she had to sacrifice Leo, but that wasn't really her choice.

My Prediction for Clue #6: I have no idea what this clue refers to. I'm not even going to make any guesses. One questions: What ghosts is Reyna talking about?

Reality: Well. I know the answer now. Reyna is awesome.

My Prediction for Clue #7: Why would Nico have to leave both camps? "If you let your anger rule you." Nico's fatal flaw is holding grudges. Will this have something to do with Blood of Olympus?

Reality: This quote is really not very significant.

My Prediction for Clue #8: This clue doesn't really tell us much. Except that the giants are healing faster. Hmm...

Reality: This quote is from the very end of the book. The giants were healing faster because Gaea was waking.

My Prediction for Clue #9: I can't really get anything new from this clue. Only one question. Go down where? Where are they?

Reality:The Piper and Annabeth battle is my favourite in Blood of Olympus.

So, anyway, Blood of Olympus was definitely not my favourite in the series. House of Hades is. I am excited to read The Sword of Summer (first book in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard series) and also the third Kane Chronicles/Percy Jackson crossover.

    Soul Mates Edit

I tried to put pairs in here that were as different as possible. Some of them are romantic relationships and some of them are friendships. I could not, unfortunately, find and f/f pairings for this.

Doctor Who Series 8: Into the Dalek

SPOILERS!!!!! Read at your own risk.

I enjoyed the second episode quite a bit. Some people were worried about Steven Moffat reusing things too much, but I think his new take on a Dalek was very interesting and unlike anything I've seen before. Peter Capaldi is as brilliant as he was in the first episode. Now that he isn't all weird right after the regeneration, we get a sense of what he's really going to be like.

I really like Danny Pink. I was excited to get to know him before I watched this episode, and I wasn't disappointed. I was worried that he would be a lot like Mickey or Rory, but he's totally different. He might become one of my favourite companions. I already ship him with Clara.

I am really excited about Missy. I hope that she'll be in every episode like she has been in the first two.

The next episode is Robot of Sherwood. I'm excited about this one because it's about Robin Hood.

Doctor Who Series 8: Deep Breath

SPOILERS!!!!! Read at your own risk.

The first series 8 episode was amazing. First of all, there was Peter Capaldi who is BRILLIANT. He may end up becoming my favourite Doctor. I love that this version of the Doctor is "darker".

Then there was Clara, of course. I'm so happy that she and the Doctor are just friends, now. I never shipped them romantically. I think Jenna Coleman and Peter Capaldi work really well together. They're both amazing actors.

Then there are Madame Vastra and Jenny. After seeing this episode they have become one of my all time OTPs. Can they be counted as companions now?

The last scene was kind of random. I believe that woman is the main villain for this series. She looks slightly crazy. Good. I like crazy villains. Anyway, this is by far my favourite first episode in a series of Doctor Who.

Next episode is Into the Dalek. It's one of the episodes I'm most looking forward to in this series because Daleks are awesome. I know some people are complaining about Doctor Who using Daleks too much but I don't care.

    City of Heavenly Fire Review

I didn't expect it to end the way it did, but I liked the ending. I honestly expected Magnus to die, but I'm really glad he didn't. What happened to Simon is really sad, though.

This book made me like both Isabelle and Alec more. Also, it made Malec one of my OTPs again. It kind of stopped being one for a while.

About Jordan and Maia: I understand why Jordan had to die, but I wish he'd died a little later on in the book. I never really shipped Jordan and Maia. I kind of pretended to (I even kind of convinced myself I did) but... I never really cared that much about their relationship. I didn't really mind Maia deciding to break up with Jordan, whereas when Magnus broke up with Alec I was really annoyed.

So, yeah. That's it. I can't wait for Dark Artifices. I really started to like Emma in City of Heavenly Fire.

A Post Where all I do is Confuse You

My blog looks slightly different and weird because I changed the fonts and stuff. I also added a search box which I find awesome. Um, you probably don't care. My brother, who loves computers, was helping me with it and he thinks I shouldn't have the background as black, but I like black. It's one of my four favourite colours. If you care, my other three favourite colours are silver, purple and blue.

My least favourite colours are red, green and pink. Some people find it weird that I have favourite and least favourite colours since I'm colourblind. But, the thing is, I don''t really care about how colours look. Since I can't see them, that doesn't really matter anyway. My favourite colours are my favourite colours either because I like the name, or I like something associated with that colour. Or both.

Speaking of colours, why do Canada and USA spell it differently. It's so confusing. Same with "favourite" and "neighbour" and some other words. I never know which way to spell them. I always spell colour and favourite the Canadian way, but I spell "favor" the American way. I have no idea why. Sometimes I just avoid using those words because I don't know how I'm supposed to spell them.

I used to be good at spelling. Now I pretty much rely on spellcheck to save my life. I just don't feel it's worth the time to try to be perfect at spelling. I'll figure it all out eventually.

This post wasn't really worth your time, was it? To make up for that, here is a picture of a kitten:

Speaking of kittens, my family is thinking of getting one or possibly two. They've agreed that we can name them after fictional characters which is super awesome. Right now we're thinking Sherlock for a boy and Luna for a girl.

Sherlock and Luna would be an... interesting ship. Um, I think I'm going to leave now. Good bye.

The Romione/Harmony Debate: The Full Interview

Here is the full article that I talked about a few days ago where Emma Watson interviews J. K. Rowling.

    The Full Interview

As I suspected, J. K. Rowling did not actually say that she regretted pairing Ron and Hermione. While she did say that their may have been problems in their relationship and that there may be chemistry between Harry and Hermione, there was totally no need for everyone to overreact. Never assume anything, people. This interview does not give Harmony shippers any more ammunition than they had before. It's just the musings of an author who has had years to think about her series.

The Romione/Harmony Debate and my Opinions

So, everyone in the Potter fandom is talking about this right now: J. K. Rowling apparently announced in an interview with Emma Watson that she may have regretted pairing Ron and Hermione together and that Hermione and Harry might have been a better pair. Some people are super upset about this and some people are super happy. My opinion? It doesn't matter in the slightest. First of all, the full interview hasn't come out yet, so we don't really know what she really said. I think it comes out tomorrow or the next day but I'm not sure. Here's what everyone is making all the fuss about:

    Article #1
    Article #2

And here is a random article I found stating that J. K. Rowling is wrong:

    Article #3

Stop freaking out people! Just because J. K. Rowling said that she may have regretted putting Hermione and Ron together doesn't mean that the pairing is no longer canon. J. K. Rowling can't change what's in the books. And even if she could, she wouldn't, because much of the story depends on the Romione romance.
Look, I'm sure tons of writers regret some things the wrote in their books. No book is perfect. J. K. Rowling might be right, Ron and Hermione might not have worked out quite so well in real life as it did in the books, but that doesn't matter. It's a book. It's fiction.
Anyway, I have never thought the Romione pairing was perfect. While I ship them as boyfriend/girlfriend, I can't see them getting married and staying together. It would be a difficult relationship. However, Harry and Hermione wouldn't work for the opposite reason. Though I bet their relationship would go quite smoothly (they never really argue), they didn't fall in love. Harry never showed any sign at all in the books of liking Hermione as anything more than a friend, and it seems clear to me that Hermione felt the same way. So Harmony wouldn't have worked with the story. I totally understand people who ship Harmony, but I don't think it would fit the story at all.
But, anyway, none of that matters. What Jo says changes nothing.
Also, don't get mad at J. K. Rowling for stating her opinion. She's not doing this just to "stir up the fandom". Gosh.
